As horses head into the lake filled stretch
#7,
ICantSwim,
had the lead but threw in the towel,
#3,
LikestItDry, slowed to avoid getting soaked and
#4,
FlysOverWater, just took command and drew out to win the Great Lakes GRII Handicap. (more below)

FlysOverWater won easily on a track labelled as waterlogged.

FlysOverWater
is the son of SwimmingGoodNow,
out of the dam
Breaststroke,
and was bred at the Water Stud Farm of Atlantis.

Horses at the
Water Stud Farm
train over the
Atlantic Ocean
and are tremendously
prepared for
lake racing.
The ocean
training really pays
off when
racing back on the
much calmer lake
surfaces.

Often, ocean conditions are so severe that
Water Stud trained
horses can barely
make any headway
against the strong winds, waves, and rugged conditions. Such training really prepares these horses for lake racing on stormy days.
