August-September, 2006

Teresa and Philip had an outdoor ceremony at the beautiful Country Squire Banquet and Restaurant facility in Grayslake where the area is surrounded by tall trees, with many areas filled with flowers, a fountain and a gazebo too.

Funny thing is it never rains at the weddings I photograph, and on Saturdays when I'm not booked it rains part or all day. Yes, couples have even more reasons besides great photography for hiring my services, really!

Nancy and Bryan had a ceremony and reception at the Jazz club, Green Dolphin Street in Chicago.

Both Nancy and Bryan are in the US military with Nancy currently serving in Turkey and Bryan in Italy with both working in hospitals.

This proof book is going to have a long journey for both to see. Hopefully, Nancy and Bryan will be together again real soon.

Showing Up won the 2006 Secretariat for the same owners that won the 2006, Kentucky Derby with Barbaro, Mr and Mrs Roy Jackson.

Showing Up left from the # 1 post position with the lead and never relinquished it during the 1 1/4 mile turf race run in an even 2 minutes flat.

Previously, Showing Up won the Colonial Turf Cup in his first turf try and before that ran 6th to Barbaro in the Kentucky Derby.

The jockey is Cornelio Velasquez.

The Tin Man

The eight year old, The Tin Man, set his own comfortable fractions and led all the way in the running of the 2006, Arlington Million. Jockey Vince Espinosa was in the irons.

On the right, The Tin Man smiles as I not only took his photograph but I talked to him too. I saw his eyes come my way when I told him from fairly near by, "Way to go Tin Man". Well, he did win me a couple dollars too, so I was very pleased with his logical effort.

When Arlington Park was given the 2002 Breeders' Cup it was necessary to run the full racing meet all through October giving me a chance to incorporate the fall colors into a racing scene. This image was taken after they disassembled the bleachers used on Breeders' Cup day.
This October issue of American Turf Monthly hit the newstands in early September.

The left is at just past the quarter pole and the right is just after the half-mile pole, both at Arlington Park.
